Second - do not forget that most new Garmin GPS devices cannot read Unicode maps - so in that case for maps that have Unicode after the name, resort to the non Unicode maps instead.

I downloaded and transfered the map OK, but when I search, I cant find a bunch of adresses!! It doesnt even have my street name listed!! It did work for me, as far as getting the maps and being able to search for some addresses, but not nearly as well as it worked before.
The road was displayed, but the local address number that I entered may have just as well been on the moon. Nuvi would not let me enter an alphanumeric street number B and suggested that Rea Road was as far as it could go. No, that was not my intended destination.
Also, there was no option to enter a zip code. Instead, I had to start spelling C-h-a-r-l-o-t-t-e. This is the second time I have considered deleting this post, for just what you have described.
Well yes, it is. Plug unit into your Computer mine is Windows 10 in case your wondering Now explore your Computer. You will see your Garmin unit. Mine is Nuvi And under your unit is a subfolder called Nuvi with a drive letter associated with it. This is your SD card. Right click your SD card and choose properties and format. Quick Format Fat Now go download your map files and put them in that drive. Make a Garmin folder and the map name has to be gmapsupp.

I have updated the webpage a bit and if it works the map will update automatically every Thursday. I picked Thursday so the map will be fresh for the weekend ride :- I have made some changes to the windows register key for the Windows installer and because of this you will not be prompted to uninstall a map from or earlier when you run the installer.
After you get rid of the map from the installer will overwrite the old map every time you update as before. Thank you Lone Rider for making your posts. Unfortunately the 2 last updates in February are not recognized by my N6 anymore.
Using a older Version in Basecamp and on the N6 Aug instead. Did you get any feedback from Navigator Users if also others have a problem with the. IMG, everything works fine and routing is fully functional. IMG despite the fact it is really outdated right from Garmin. You can try to create a gmapsupp with Basecamp's Mapinstall or Mapsource instead of the premade version? So question Glad to hear this workaround solves your issue. Because the gmapsupp is generated with experimental software mkgmap it is very likely that next updates also cause crashes I'm afraid.
Apparently, Mapsource or Basecamp can filter those glitches out of the map when writing the data to your device. Unfortunately Garmin will not reveal its source code so the mkgmap engineers have to programm those maps by trial and error so it is unknown when or if those errors can be fixed.
Hi Ligfietser, if I got that right mkgmap produces a gmapsupp that is incorrect. I think this should be corrected. Do you know the parameters used to create the tiles and to create the gmapsupp? The map itself is viewable and useable by the gps and does not cause it to crash. Todd, which map does not crash, you've mentioned the one that you have compiled yourself with mkgmap.
How about one that you have send from the pc to your device with Basecamp's Mapinstall? I have not done anything related to Basecamp. I hope this helps.
